The hardest part of any new adventure is getting started. Well that is what is hardest for me anyway! I began my sewing and quilting adventure about 5 years ago. Growing up I remember learning to sew in home economics class and vaguely remember sewing with my mother. Mostly easy items like pillows.
Fast forward many years and I was looking for something to do that was enjoyable and not categorized as a vice. I was suddenly faced with lots of free time after my kids were done with sports and band. My husband always has a hobby and I was left with too much time on my hands. Playing slot machines or day drinking with friends isn’t exactly healthy, so I needed to find something else. I actually don’t remember what my goal was when I decided to order a sewing machine on Amazon. I think it was to make a robe for myself?
After that attempt, I decided that even if I could learn how to sew garments, I wasn’t going to enjoy it at all. I moved on to zipper bags and pot holders. Somehow I stumbled into quilt making and I have not looked back.
